Submission call for the Still Voices Short Film Festival 2020 now open!
Actor
Antonio Aakeel is a British actor born in the West Midlands who began his acting career by winning a role in the hit channel 4 series Skins. He recently starred as Omar in his first leading feature role in Eaten by Lions and was also named a Screen International ‘Star of Tomorrow’ by global film publication Screen Daily. After appearing opposite Oscar winner Alicia Vikander in the recent Tomb Raider reboot, he was cast as a semi-regular in BBC One’s upcoming thriller series Dublin Murders based on the novels by Tana French.
He appeared alongside Riz Ahmed in City of Tiny Lights and will next be seen leading Abid Khan’s coming-of-age debut feature Granada Nights, following the story of a young man overcoming heartbreak in the Spanish city. Aside from acting Antonio is a keen writer and was recently shortlisted for the BBC Writers Room Caroline Aherne Bursary award.
