Karen McGann

Filmmaker

Karen McGann is a BAFTA nominated documentary director and producer. She started her career at the BBC specialising in art and history films before leaving to freelance in 2012. She continues to make historical documentaries but more recently has focused on contemporary subjects.

Her last film What Makes a Woman told the story of transgender activist Munroe Bergdorf and explored questions of gender and identity politics. It aired on channel 4 in may 2018 Credits include: Art of Russia BBC4, Sicily Unpacked BBC2, Rock and Roll Sky Arts, Nightmare on Everest Channel 4
