In this short documentary the Danube will transform from a little stream into a majestic river. The Danube is not only a lifeline meandering through Eastern Europe but is also the connector of cultures and a bridge between past, present and future. In this intimate portrait we will get to know the Danube and his surroundings from a unique perspective; through the eyes and ears of the river itself.
Rashel followed the preliminary training at Open Studio in Amsterdam in 2016 and was accepted in 2017 at the Utrecht School of the Arts. In her second year she focused on making documentaries. In her third year she went to Uganda for 3 months to make a documentary about Ugandan agriculture. In her graduation film 'Ich bin der Fluß', which was shown at the Netherlands Film Festival 2020, she explores the boundaries of documentary. In this film she gives the Danube a voice in the form of a poetic voice-over. Rashel is an intuitive and visual maker and wants to give nature a voice in the social debate in her films. It offers new perspectives that encourage thinking about the relationship between man and nature.
